Te Ako Ritenga - The Proposal

We have started learning about the Te Ako Ritenga learning process over the last few weeks. To do this we are working towards making a proposal for Mrs Peck to see if we can have the outdoor area by the Secret Garden as part of Piako Rua. We have discussed and brainstormed why we think we should get the space and what we could do with it. We then worked on making our proposal by either constructing, drawing, writing or filming what our idea was and why we needed it. Check out our awesome work!

Enzo and Courtney thought having a golf course out the back would be a great idea and were exploring how to make the course. Enzo decided to make it more of a challenge by adding some obstacles in the way!

Cameron and Austin decided a zipline would be a great addition to our school and were working together to build supports to hold it up.

Caleb began by making a flower out of mobilo... But soon his idea grew as he made an entire garden centre with sprinklers on the side so all the flowers could grow!

Ella and Maia worked for days on their fairy house as it kept falling over. They worked on adding more to the structure to make it stronger.

After they had succeeded with the blocks they switched to lego before finally being ready to record their proposal for Mrs Peck.

Logan W decided a treehouse would be great to have and that it needed an escalator to get up to so that all our friends were able to get there safely.

Charlie and Jack worked on a treehouse together, where Charlie made the treehouse and Jack was making a slide to add to it. They then moved onto drawing their plan, constantly talking to each other to extend their thinking. They have both chosen to speak to Mrs Peck in person to present their proposals.

One of the ideas brainstormed for the outdoor area was for it to be a picnic area. So one of the challenges set was to create a picnic basket. Not only did Ayla achieve this she then extended herself by creating her own food and picnic blanket to go with it!

Miwa drew a flower for butterflies that she would like to plant in the outdoor space so we spoke and looked at swan plants. Check out Miwa's awesome swan plant creation.

Ruby and Peyton worked on building a treehouse together out of lego. They decided to provide more information for Mrs Peck by then drawing and recording their proposal

Tane and Levi created a football field complete with a hospital just in case anyone got injured while playing.

Felix, Ryan, Seth and Caleb worked together to create a shop that could be set up in the outside space. They decided that they could grow fruits and vegetables outside and then sell them at the shop so everyone could have a healthy snack!

Nina, Sophie, Ella and Maia worked together on their treehouse idea. Nina then decided to take it further by practising and recording her proposal ensuring she said what her idea was and why it would be good to have at Riverdale School.

Peyton decided one proposal wasn't enough and drew her plan before recording another proposal for Mrs Peck!

We have yet to take our proposals to Mrs Peck so check in again to find out the results!
